Patient care services
Bio-psycho-socio-vocational and economic assessment
Social workers conduct a comprehensive patient assessment, ideally during the initial visit, gathering detailed case history across biological, psychological, social, vocational, and economic domains. The assessment emphasizes identifying strengths and facilitators that support rehabilitation, while also documenting any barriers that may influence the patient's care plan and overall recovery process.
Management and formulation of comprehensive treatment plan
As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the social worker provides input on a range of factors - biological, psychological, social, vocational, and economic, that may influence the patient's health, wellbeing, and participation in therapeutic programmes. This holistic perspective supports the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive and effective treatment plan.
Counselling Services
Social Work services provide counselling to individuals with various disabilities to support their adjustment, coping, and psychological wellbeing. Counselling is also offered to parents and families of children with special educational needs, as the presence of a disability can significantly disrupt family functioning and emotional stability. Counselling services are extended to individuals experiencing psychosocial difficulties to improve their emotional wellbeing and functional adjustment. As part of NIPMR's outreach initiatives, Social Workers also provide counselling support to students in nearby schools to promote their emotional, behavioural, and social development.
