ripmr frontNational Institute for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation provides very comprehensive rehabilitation in the areas of physical disability as well as speech and hearing disorders through team assessment and evaluation covering case history, Physiotherapeutic needs assessment, Speech, Language & Hearing assessment, considering their Special educational, intellectual and developmental needs. We have a special school for the systematic development of the kids with special needs. A comprehensive plan made on basis of evaluation, goals are set according to function level and achievement plan made by the rehabilitation team. A program plan is also made for home based training and demonstrations are given to parents for carrying out the skill training or therapy program for home management.

Brief History

The institute started on 15-08-2005 as Thressiama Memorial Hospital which was run by N. K. Mathew Charitable Trust with N.K.George as Managing Trustee . He started the services of Physiotherapy, Speech and Special School, which were able to give services to children and persons with disabilities. In order to fulfill his vision to give the services to a larger community and wider area, The Trust Gifted the institution to the government.

On 24-01-2013 the trust handed over Thressiamma Memorial Hospital and its assets to the Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala and took up the Name of National Institute for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Apart from the previous services, some other services including Social Work and Clinical Psychology have been started and some others are in the planning stage. Now, we are in a stage of development and in the path of being a National Institute.
