Special Transition school

The special school operated by NIPMR under the Social Justice Department provides comprehensive support and education for children aged 3 to 18 years with cerebral palsy and associated conditions. Based on each child’s age and abilities, classes are organized into four levels: pre-primary, primary, secondary, and pre-vocational.

Every classroom is equipped with modern, child-friendly facilities including interactive touch screens, tablets, customized wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs for specific needs, and ergonomically designed chairs and tables. These features create an inclusive, accessible, and technology-enhanced learning environment.

Our greatest strength is our multidisciplinary team approach, integrating various therapies, medical support, and specialized education. Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are implemented to ensure that each child receives the highest quality training tailored to their unique needs. All our teachers are highly experienced in special education and possess expertise in their respective fields.

The school functions Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We also encourage the active participation of at least one parent, as their involvement greatly contributes to the children’s psychological and intellectual development. Regular interaction between parents and teachers strengthens rapport and fosters the overall progress of every child.

One of our dedicated special educators, Anu Augustine, has developed an innovative adaptive device named SANA and AWAD, designed to support children who face challenges in writing and effective communication.
